My grandfather was an oil drilling foreman in McKean County PA. I remember going with him to the drills and smelling this unusual swampy, woodsy oil smell. That is what wafted from this bottle. Brought me back to my childhood, quite pleasurable. On the palate a very different story. Lots of nectarine fruit with crushed stone without the searing acidity of some other 2019 German rieslings. Definitely off dry. Quite nice
