Pours a medium ruby in the glass, developing, medium intensity aromas of dried and fresh brambles, crushed blackberry, black cherry, dried plum, fig, vanilla, dried orange peel, baking spices (nutmeg, allspice, etc), black pepper, some herbaceous notes (rosemary, thyme), soy, cedar, and dry earth. In the mouth, the wine is med + bodied, med + acid, med tannin, high alcohol, med + palate intensity, med + finish. Overall, very good, can drink now, but will hold for 5+yrs, IMO. I'd like to see more intensity on the nose, it feels a bit tired/weak, however, this feels rustic and soulful to drink. Great with grilled meats or tomato based dishes. Not a rich, jammy zinfandel, which is appreciated.

Dark rye fruit on the nose. Spicy fruit, and soft mid palate, really darn good zin here. Beyond 10 years they apparently start reading as Bordeaux. A small component from Calistoga that just slightly edges it beyond 85% from their vineyard manager.
