Tasted from the WBTG selection at Livia Restaurant in Geneva (IL). Pleasant drinking, Ruby red in color, medium bodied, fresh red currant fruits accented by hints of strawberries and cherries with notes of violet, leather, spices, tobacco and hints of mocha supported by the typical tangy acidity of Sangiovese with long elegant tannins. https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2022/10/livia-casual-dining-in-geneva.html

By the glass. CC. Traditional style on the nose and totally modern on the palate, that is, aromas of bitter cherries and dried raspberries in front of a full-bodied structured wine with most unbalanced elements. Out of my mind.
Por copas. CC. Estilo tradicional en nariz y totalmente moderno al paladar, es decir, aromas a cerezas amargas y frambuesas desecadas frente a una estructura de vino de gran cuerpo con la mayoría de elementos desequilibrados. Fuera de mi interés.

First of a case. Have always found Casaloste a dependable producer.
Nose of balsamic, cooked tomatoes, chocolate and old leather. Palate brings dusty terracotta, spices, rich dark cherry and plum. Fine but reasonably pronounced tannins and high acidity.
This is really nice and balanced Chianti and paired really nicely with bucatini carbonara. This is great now but will no doubt improve.
Compared to the Isole e Olena 2018 Chianti this is much more balanced.

Sacrificed for cooking but not a bad albeit entry level Chianti.
