  • If I can just scoochie on in here.. (Napa): Nose showed aromatic red flowers and berries, lots of clean and pure fruits. The clean fruits are accentuated by river washed gravel, providing freshness to the aromas.

Palate showed clean dark red fruits with nice swiftness on the palate, and dark tree bark with a touch of bitterness. White flower pedals on the palate makes the already clean fruits seem more natural. Clean minerals on the finish with a bit of shine. Savory pencils eventually develop on the finish as well.

Will take some time in bottle to integrate more. The wine at the moment seems "separated" in terms of flavors, as each note wanted to show out for themselves only. Might be a while before they know how to start working with each other. Airing it out and following through should be okay too.

  • As strong as the last time.

  • Nose: Perfumed and elegant nose of blueberry, cassis, graphite and tobacco. Just a nicely perfumed nose that melds Oakville and Stags Leap really well.

Palate: Silky on the plate with a nice polished edge. Dark red cherry, blueberry, pencil shavings, stone and fine leather. This is really quite well delineated on the palate.

Finish: Leave a great impression of the red/blue fruit and a nice western Oakville spice. A very pleasing wine here that is showing the potential of the Futo sites quite well.

  • I found this wine to be below the standard I expect from Futo. Yes the finish is an acid tannin wall. However, that's all the wine offered. Not well integrated and lacking all the components that make a well made wine. I gave it a one hour decant and followed the wine over the next 3 plus hours. Too much money for this wine. Way too many better offerings for the price both old world and new.

  • Opened in a kind of safe and boring/smooth way, but the mid-palette and finish delivered. Coffee grounds and dark fruit, with a bracing acid finish.
