For those who know me, I like both “sides” of the Barbera spectrum (e.g., I rank Aves and Larigi side by side). To me, this is in the spirit of winemakers seeking lift and lightness and structure and depth. The lift in the mid-palate reminds me much of the barberas by Marta and Carlotta (and the late Giuseppe), there is an extreme purity of fruit. Refreshing acidity, encapsulated by elegance and depth. Hard to put down. Long lingering finish. This is the kind of barbera you serve somebody who thinks/says Barbera is boring, and/or lacks complexity and life. Sourced from vines in Monforte, aged for 8 months in barrique.
