I first drank this wine from barrel at Giroud in 1992. I bought 6 bottles in 1995 directly from Giroud's cellars and have kept in my cellar since but had not tasted it until now. Drank for New Year's Eve from Riedel Grand Cru Burgundy glasses over a 2 hour period with no decanting. Absolutely delicious! Rich, lingering mouthful of dark dried fruit with a little tobacco. Not a typical Clos Vougeot but lovely all the same. Maybe it's the provenance and storage but I expect my remaining bottles will hold over the next 5-10 years.

The mysteries of wine aging (2011 IPNC): Ruby garnet color. Nose cola and rose petals. Palate simple with prominent tannin and acid. Finish clipped with tannin and acid.
