GMs - Kevin Farewell @ GC: Honey, ginger and butterscotch. Nice richness on the palate, with good acidity and a decent amount of development. Feels like this is ready to go right now and not one for the long term.

It took two hours to open. The nose had citrus, mineral and honey. The palate had a bit of honey with high acidity. However, the palate was a bit simple. Still young but not much potential to be great.

Leiden in Burgundy October 2009; 10/22/2009-10/23/2009: Very closed, takes time to open, doesn't completely happen in the 2 hours we drink this wine despite decanting. Mineral, concentrated. Some butter, but on the whole more a Puligny Montrachet style. Good length. I wonder what this wine will show in 2-3 years.

Very different personality from the Buisson-Charles Goutte d'Or; this one is more archetypal Meursault with its fatter, broad-shouldered palate presence. But from whence does the fat come? It's not a stiff wine in terms of alcohol content, nor is the fruit intensity especially concentrated. Nevertheless it treads with a bigger footprint, leaving some light butterscotchy flavors, but mostly I think the answer is that it's simply less taut, allowing more of its material to unwind. The fruit is still bright and fresh, more lemon and citrus than apple or pear, glistening on the chalk-spackled finish.
