Inky dark, almost black color. I let it decant for seven hours before trying. The nose was OK - a little CF funk mixed with sulfur and oak. I was surprised by how unready to drink it was - felt like it was bottled two years ago, and seemed as if it could happily sit for another 15-20. I'm sure it would mellow out over time, but I'm not sure how delicious it would be. I feel like at that point it might be drinking a like a nice Chinon, but you'd have to wait a long time!

Vegetal, tannic, earthy, leathery. Tasty and smooth. Tastes like a mouthfull of dirt with some dry raspberries, leather, and dried sage. Nose of dried sage, dried cherries, dried cranberries, leather, cigar box, and spruce pine.

Decent Madiran, aged in new oak but not evidently so, with Tannat's strong astringency and dry, finely gritty tannins. Not a lot of fruit or flesh, but it has good cut and really needs food. Good pizza wine.
