Aromas of cranberry, strawberry, wild blueberry, plum distillate, fig paste, garrigue, lavender, roses, a little baking spice and dried orange peel. Supple and juicy, extraordinarily elegant as Cali Rhone blends go, fine tannins but not a lot of them, lively acidity. Easygoing and relatively soft, nice floral and spicy lift on the finish, and there's also nice juxtaposition of crunchy bitter red fruit and slightly jammy dark fruit. This is a baby, and will develop nicely for many more years.

Killer Cali Rhone blend. Elegant, silky, fresh, savory. Red cherry, cranberry, tiny wild blueberry, raw meat, dried flowers, diverse resinous herbs, airy spice. Tangy and herbal, tight and tense, pleasant bitter herbal notes linger long. This is young and needs time, but there's promise. I would wait another year or two before trying again, and I would expect it to be worth following about a decade.
Day 3: this had a lot of gas still trapped in it and the cork went "pop", today it is much more expressive. Lots of sweet red and blue fruit: strawberry, red cherry, raspberry, blueberry, slivovitz. Rather piney and minty, there's a gorgeous aromatic woody aroma. Also intoxicating notes of oolong, linden and roses. Much more gentle and rich on the palate today, but still quite fresh and lively. This is not heavy or thick, but full of myriad delicate flavors. I am quite confident this will be worth following for a decade or more. Bravo Birichino!
