light gold pour. dusty stone, butter, and tropical fruits on the nose. should have read on this a bit before opening. heavier than my prior experience with this wine. first day was just too rich with oak and felt overly woody. big time butter notes. importer says only used casks on this but for this vintage the barrel really shows. second day was immensely much better showing some mango/pineapple notes on the palate with integrated acidity. butter and spice faded well into the background and served as light seasoning as they were probably intended. finished long with sweet ripe tropical notes. hold if you have some.

Comparing the 2018 village white we opened tonight, it was more like a white from Rhône, with a lot of tropical fruits instead of white flowers. It would be a guide to the 2019 vintage of hot weather, not for the white!

this had a distinct astringency on opening which eventually mellowed - certainly not a wine to be drunk as an aperitif at this stage, I enjoyed this maybe an hour after opening with roast chicken - this needs food and time

Nose was pretty floral for the level. Lightweight finish and very round body if you give it some airtime. What I couldn't quite accept was the slightly steely and wooded bitterness at the end. That turned this from a really good daily white to just meh. Don't think this has too much life

Wines at Jordan's wedding: Didn't enjoy the previous Fourrier BB that I had and had similar impressions here. A little green but still had overripe fruit at the same time.
