Popped and poured. Translucent, with medium ruby core. Beautifully pure, and remarkably primary Pinot nose, showing no age at all. Fruit-forward, almost deceptively off-dry on the attack, but otherwise dry. Balanced acidity, with no tannins or discernible oak. Light, fresh and delicious, with a bit of coffee on the finish.

My last bottle of this wine. Lovely nose of black cherry fruit with hints of wet forest floor, allspice, and cherry jam preserves, more of the same on the palate, lots of improvement while cellared the last year in the mid palate, richer, more intense and slightly more complex, should have waited another year.

Falltacular 2009 (Casa Murray - San Juan Capistrano, CA): This wine showed better than when I tasted it at Family Winemakers a year ago. Sauvage notes of red cherries, strawberries, earth, and red clay. Soft on the palate.

Family Winemakers of California (Pasadena, CA): Admittedly, this is not my favorite vineyard. Rustic notes of animal and earth wrapped a core of red fruits.
