Cracked this to accompany an ancho chile/cocoa powder rubbed pork tenderloin with roasted sweet potatoes and steamed broccoli. The rub definitely adds just enough heat and bitterness to call for a nice Zin and this fit the bill.
The wine upon open shows dark cherries, some blackberry, iron, briny olive and a little bit of menthol. On the palate this shows pretty rich fruit with dusty cocoa powder, some mint and maybe a little pepper. Chewy medium length finish..very nice and in no hurry of falling off the cliff. Very enjoyable tonight.
