This vintage seemed to open more quickly than the 2017 tasted previously. Good colour, attractive fruit, complexity on the nose and the palate. The palate showed dark black fruits, with Mocha coffee flavours and a little black treacle. Good with food and enjoyable on its own. Once again, the Tesco back label says ‘will keep for up to 3 years’. Ignore this if you can store the wine properly. Already 4yo and the wine still has life. I popped half a bottle in the fridge overnight to finish next day. After warming to room temperature it was much better on day 2 suggesting that it really does have life ahead. Scored on the basis of a fair QPR (around £10 on offer). 88 (+) Another unnecessarily heavy bottle.

Deep deep purple pink colour with a hint of fading at the rim. Ripe nose, sloes and brambles, with vanilla and toasty spicy notes. Full and fruity on the palate, very ripe but fresh, and nice to see alcohol at 13.5%. A little chocolate and leathery tannin. Tasty, glossy, well balanced malbec. Can’t complain about this. £13, so not bad value . There are more interesting wine for the money.

N....medium intensity stewed dark plum, cassis, alc, wood, a hint of caramel.
C...bright red.
T....smooth silky soft texture, some class here; easy tannins but they are there all the same; a decent essence of red fruit, dry end of medium, not actually dry. Back label says drink within 3 yrs but to me drinking it already at 3 yrs it feels it could maybe go another 3. Nice acid balance to the fruit. Lacks complexity, it's a bit simple - it's just £12.00, I get it - I expected just some mocha, some espresso, maybe a hint of leather; nope, it didn't show, and it probably isn't going to later on.
VFM?....'correct' wine but just not an interesting one. Worth it's asking price but is no bargain. Not looking for any more.

A very dark colour, with a purple tinge; very lively, blackberryish fruit, still rather young but drinkable now. Perhaps a bit one-dimensional, but attractive enough and decent value.
