Maturing nicely. Following this over 3+ hours of slow ox (after coravin'ing a glass two nights earlier) this shows nice depth and integration. Interesting as it doesn't show the depth or darkness of much mtn fruit and only shows hints of sweetness on its finish, its enjoyable and growing on me.
Will pop another bottle later this year and take better notes

I resisted opening this bottle because of the vintage but saw the starting drinking window on CT and threw caution to the wind. I should have listened to my instinct - this bottle was a vanilla bomb upon opening. It mellowed and integrated substantially over the next hour or so. Enjoyable but I plan to lay the others down for at least another 12+ months.

After a 90 min decant the nose remains heavy of vanilla and young toasted oak. While there's plenty of tannins, this is dominated by dark syrupy fruits with hints of cigar and spice rack. Still needs more time to come into its own

The 2018 Hayfork is inky in the glass. This full-bodied wine shares a nose and palate of blackberry jam and toasty oak. It has a medium-length finish suggesting it will age for another 5+ years. This is not a bad wine, but for around $80, I’d like some integration. Put this away for a few years.
