Totally agree with King Cab below. This wine was extraordinary from the intense plum nose, slightly jammy and chewy palate of dark mountain fruit to a perfectly balanced and lengthy finish of fine tannins and acidity. Remarkable.

Hints of berries on the front end, with a nice chalky note in there, but it's a bit thin through the middle. Might just be subdued because my tongue is still on fire from the spicy sausage we had for dinner - but I think it's more a case of "fading away." Respectable, but not special. This bottle hasn't turned or oxidized, but I doubt its getting better.

Tasty, but a bit one dimensional. Felt like it was falling apart while I was sipping the first glass at the grill ... but once we pulled the steaks and dug into dinner, it seemed to perk up a bit. I guess in this case, the cellartracker drinking window is probably right and I should have tapped into these a few years back. Drink up while there's still something left.
UPDATE: well, 2 days later it's no worse for the wear. Hasn't fallen off since we had it with steaks. In fact, it seems to have picked up a very pleasant hint of dark chocolate on the finish. Still seems like the alcohol is just barely integrated. But I'm enjoying it. It's not a stunner, but it's still enjoyable.

Enjoyable mouthful of big and juicy Howell Mountain fruit, but no "wow" factor. Given a somewhat limited backbone and the amount of sediment currently present, I doubt it improves much from here and suggest drinking up...

Torn between the fact it is pretty darn good wine but in the end, I was hoping for more. Really good but never gets great.
