  • Method: Grassl 1855; decanted 1 hour prior to tasting; chilled

    Look: Med+ ruby

Nose: Black plum, black cherry, ripe blackberry, vanilla, baking spice; very expressive

Palate: Black cherry, vanilla; long finish baking spice, black pepper, light dried herbs; dry; full- body; medium very fine tannins; medium acidity

Overall thoughts: Definitely a modern, hedonistic wine with a lot of sweetish new oak notes. Great body and mouthfeel and still sufficiently in balance relative in a fairly fuller-throttle kind of way. Great wine.

  • Double decanted 3 hours before dinner. Zero hint of smoke taint. This was singing. Big and voluptuous in the mouth, expanded mid-palate and long, lingering finish. My second 96 rating of this wine. Along with Carter Grand Daddy, the best 2020 I've had. Thank you Leah and Mike for your hospitality.

  • Kenefick used to be one of my favorites, the bottle I opened last night reminded me of the 2010. It leans towards the softer and more gentle side. Defiantly not an old world wine. Glad I have a few more.

  • Kennefick has always been one of my favorites from Myriad. It sits in between the regular Napa and the higher end Beckstoffer offerings. And it is always a nice, big, thick and juicy offering. This one is no exception. That being said, I do think this could benefit from more time in the cellar. Got a little too much oak that still needs to integrate and smooth out. 93 now. Perhaps as high as 95 with a few more years to shed the baby fat.

  • This wine has really come into its own, showing remarkably well to be so young. I only purchased a couple of bottles of this one and that was a mistake. 95+/ 96 Points (see previous notes)
