  • Cloudy gold. Striking aroma of candied blueberries on opening the bottle. Overwhelming nose of other-worldly aromas of burnt leaves, sour apple, almonds, ginger. Bracing acidity and minerality, with a hint of sweetness, but all is overwhelmed by the sour-fruit aromas. I imagine a wine that has survived an electrical fire during bottling. This wine is for the adventurous; it is as different from the usual noble grape varietals as native American grapes. The closest I can come is imagining an un-oaked Savagnin (the native varietal of the Jura used in Vin Jaune).

  • A bit too sweet for our taste; others may find more to enjoy in this wine.

  • Light nose, sour apple taste with good acidity and sweetness that I assume is from the 14.5% alcohol. The back label says it will hold up for 3 to 6 years. That would be fun to see, but alas, only one bottle brought back.
