88-90pts. Very dark fruit driven and rich - like a full bodied cab. Meatier than I like my pinot. There's a delicious factor to this wine, but missing the elegance I seek out in good pinot. Might shed some some weight in the coming years. hopefully.

Far lusher, weightier and darker than the other Calera single vineyards I’ve tasted, but still too delicious to dismiss. Nose is full of lusty dark cherry notes, musty soil, menthol, green florality, wet graphite and a whiff of green oak. Palate is massive. This is a rich, rich Pinot showing a wash of chewy tannin and just a light skiff of acid.
Strikes me as a very different style relative to their other mount Harlan offerings. Slightly less Burgundian than they typically present, but the quality is still outstanding and the complexity, quite generous.

Mount Harlan Estate tasting at Calera (Hollister): dark ruby and medium bodied in the glass. black fruits dominate the nose; accents of earth, wood and tobacco come thru as well. the same black fruits are notable on the palate, sprinkled with a good measure of savoury spice and herbal touches. tannins are firm and acidity is medium plus, as is the minerality. fruity and spicy long finish.
i would leave this to lay down a bit longer for the tannins to better integrate. there is upside rating potential here.
14.3% AbV; 100% whole cluster; eighteen months in french oak (30% new)
