  I found this a very difficult wine to rate. The colour is pale, murky, light red but fading to burnt orange to the rim. Looks older than it should at this age. Smells older too - lots of foresty mushroom and leather notes. On the palate, dark cherry, orange rind, hint of strawberry, mushroom, but the fruit hints at dry reddishness and there's also an overbearing caramel oak which really does overwhelm and throw everything out of balance. Overall, its a tasty wine which has some strong positives, but also some distractions. Still, interesting and mostly enjoyable to drink.

  Medium to pale red.
  Pure, intense cherry and spice fragrance, red fruits and soft florals, delicate,
  Well knitted, no hard edges, refined style. Red berries and cherry stone zest blend nicely, fine spice, hint of darkness but not oak. Lovely fine acidity, silky tannins. No hint of development yet, just beautiful balance. A very pretty wine.
