  Compared to Donnhoff's 2019 entry level Nahe Riesling Trocken... This dry 2020 Erste Lage Kahlenberger has a medium (but slightly more pale) lemon appearance. On the medium+ intensity and youthful nose it offers mostly primary aromas which compared to the 2019 also include green (in addition to yellow) fruit and less pronounced petrol notes. On the medium+ bodied palate, the wine is dry and has juicy acidity (higher than the 2019, and only partially offset by some residual sugar) and medium alcohol (12,5%), less solar ripeness and more crisp but still generous green and yellow fruits and spicy notes with medium+ intensity. Better balance between acidity and flavors than the 2019. The finish is medium+ and mouthwatering. Very good wine, with greater structure and elegance than the 2019, and better potential for aging (and more complexity + a higher score in the future).

  This was such a seductive bottle of wife. Racy acidity, a mineral backbone, tons of limy fruit; has a hint of spicy tropical fruit that comes out when you are having it on its own. Got a bit richer the next day. Very good both with food and on its own.

  Herby and floral nose, showing some depth and a tantalising spicy quality, a touch of smoke and talc, and lime citrus.
  
  The attack is very intense and stimulating, with very racy acidity, becoming a little richer and fuller, with some pithy grip and touches of orange citrus.
  
  Will need 12 months or so to settle, and ideally five years to really show its worth. Tons of potential.
