A fine herbal base, round sour cherry fruit at the ideal point of ripeness, later also strawberry. There is also depth. A whiff of mint, an intense mineral layer of iodine. A structured and dense palate with edges that build character around an intense and fresh fruit.

Fresh sour cherry fruit, herbacious elements of green olives and fresh berbs as well as a slightly meaty component. Well balanced, fresh palate even if not overly structured. There is a beautiful sweetness and lightness to the nose, even if the palate can‘t quite keep up and comes across a bit thin at times. Expanding layers with aeration. Not decanted and none needed necessarily, but up to 1h wouln‘t harm either. An excellent easy-drinking Pinot.

Tasting at the winery. Brief impressions. The Houilleres 2019 (93pts) was a mighty impressive village wine with substance and poise. The Sous Fretille 2020 (88pts) was quite simple but without fault. The Corton Charlemagne 2019 (94+pts) had the typical enchanting salinity, good weight and length and a very good balanced. The best wine was the Batard Montrachet 2019 (96pts). At first a bit “too Batard” for my taste, this gained freshness by the minute, with more minerality and citrus notes coming forward, complementing the beautiful floral and orchard aromas and spices, and providing further lift. The only red we tasted, the Les Fichots 2019 (92pts) had a nice florality to it but still some rough edges that will need time to soften.

One of the better PN wines I have tried in a long time, especially considering the price picture (approx. 40 - 45 €). Wonderful mouthfeel, strawberries, raspberries, herbal notes. Balanced barrels and a good acidity. Too bad this was the last bottle. Had this to young baked chicken breasts with smashed potatoes.

Tasted at the estate. Sour cherry fruit, slight notes of perfume and floral accents. Savory with peppery elements. Juicy even if slightly bitter aromatics on the palate. A more than decent and highly enjoyable entry level Burg.
