A warming, fruit forward and oaky nose. Blackberry on the palate with plenty of acidity and freshness. Energetic. Good body, brought down slightly by the Shiraz. Tannins quite well integrated but very evident. Adds an astringency to it. Needs more time in bottle. Good finish.
Noticed I have previously reviewed same vintage and scored lower this time. Feels unfair - this is still very good but oak and tannins seem more pronounced this time.

Smells like a Penfolds red first and foremost. Blackberry, plum, edges of raspberry. Vanilla and chocolate. Fine tannin, on the medium side of full bodied, excellent balance, enough length. Polished. Seductive, and I was tempted to go higher points, but resisted the siren’s / brazen hussy’s call.

Stewed Blackberry on the nose…strawberry too. Warm and delicious smells from this one. Sweet shop fig?
The most wonderful balance of sweetness and juiciness! Fantastically integrated, fine tannins that are where they should be. Very polished, a lovely finish and a very pleasant but not overpowering body.
Reminiscent of some of the best winter reds I’ve had (even though tasting in early summer!).
Thoroughly recommend this one, and very good value at £25.
I started rating this at 94 but every sip I want to up the score. Try this!

Deep, dark, ripe and rich, but with outstanding complexity and really nice balance. A superb penfolds wine - first time with this and right up there with prior Bin 28 and 128 wines. Excellent.
