  • EYE: decanted clear; copper bronze color. Before aeration, it brings aromas of pickled ginger, play-doh, and kelp. After a few minutes of strolling, it changes, to lead with bulk tea and roasted nuts. A mouthful is intensely tannic and mineral, freshly etched. Choral murmurs gather, to imply aerosol apricot, lemon, black mushroom, and nervous little red berries. Very dry. No marks of VA. I can only guess this represents 2019's plateau of accomplishment in bottle.

24 hours later—50° F—this wine is leaner, and more purposeful in its argument. As if it could nod in the direction of the Alps, breezed through its ribs with wild mint blossom. Catching glances of austere, aged, St. Estephe, and rare Savoie Mondeuse.

  • Truly interesting, funky, and structured. Not for everyone, but genuinely intriguing with these notes of chestnut honey and caramel combined with very pleasant dried fruit.

Veramente interessante, funky e strutturato. Non per tutti ma davvero intrigante con queste note di miele di castagno e caramello unite ad una frutta secca molto piacevole

  • Poured 57° F. Attenuated, chalky wine, with a certain yielding juicy richness reminiscent of Bartlett pear bruises. The structure keeps a brisk pace. Tannins are braided with drupe pits, barn bones, and almond skin. Fresh acidity is as comfortable and clean as backyard lemonade. There's sort of a cherry vibe emerging on the mid-palate. Later on, that vibe is revealed as a convulsion. This is an exemplar of the ‘hedonistic virtue’ of orange wines.
