Oregon Tasting with special guest Jade Helm (Common Lot Restaurant - Millburn, NJ): Last bottle...Brought this along with a 2000 Beaux Frères to finish an evening of Oregon wine tasting and education, fun to get a little age on these bottles and get the crowd reaction. Decanted when first arrived, drank after about 90 minutes opened.
Deep ruby color, opaque and cloudy. This one had some funk on the nose when we first started drinking it - one of those where the palate did not match the nose at all...Fruit forward and savory wine. Red fruit, strawberry/raspberry. Mid and back palate is dusted old fruits, herbs and exotic spices. Elegant mouth feel, full bodied and nicely layered finish.
This wine improved considerably during the decant, some thought too funky at first (nose), it continued to open in the glass showing rich secondary characteristics. It has lost some of the sweetness/red candy I recall from its youth, replacing it with spice/savory...it's aged well...WOTN for some...my last bottle, would drink now as I think the wine will go into a tertiary phase in a few years

At home with Valerie/Suzy, first red of the evening, had with cheeses and salad. Decanted for about 45 minutes, drank over 45...

Been a couple years since I had this, its continued to evolve. May be a bit past its prime but still drinking very well.

At Bill's 85th birthday party celebration in DC. This was last bottle of the evening, so perhaps not a fair point for it to show. It was opened about 20 minutes before pouring. Has some funk when first opened that blows off pretty quickly.
Consistent with prior notes, rounder/fatter than most Oregon Pinots. I liked it as did our crowd. Would drink over next few years.

Might be a smidgen past prime, but still drinking nice. This is a powerful Pinot Noir with intense secondary flavors and medium acid.
