Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Deep, dark oxblood/ruby.Very narrow paler rim showing clear at the very edge. Very intense, spicy nose. Very Otago. Big, bold and feral with clove spiced plums and damsons, but a lovely voluptuous quality that reminds me of Clos de la Roche. Mouth entry is very sweet and well composed - despite the nose this is not a beast in the mouth. The fruit is ripe and soft with well-judged tannins just apparent on the mid-palate, and a nice spicy freshness on the finish. Definitely not Burgundy, but I like this a lot. There is a nice savoury/medicinal quality to the taste that gives a lovely balance to the ample fruit. ***
