Cherry and earth on the nose. On the palate, black cherry and blackberry with notes of ash and earth on the medium finish, with light tannins and strong acidity. This was an average to good value at a little under $20.

Drank over 3 nights. See my last note. Best on night one, though some more interesting character came out nights 2 and 3. Drink now +4 years with a small amount of improvement potentential. A good buy.

Absolutely acceptable and fine on opening with ripe barbera fruit, but with an hour or so in decanter this really opens up to a more expressive wine that pairs well with chicken parm, prosciutto, risotto, and a variety of other typical Italian fare you'd make in a honky American kitchen like mine or in an American Italian restaurant. Tannins and high level acidity provide structure and the ability to hold up to tomato based sauce and a bit of fat on a plate while the blue, purple, red, and black melange of fruit provides some soft sweetness and bitterness, though don't get me wrong - this is not a sweet wine at all. A prior tasters note of pomegranate is prominent here and works very well.
Great example of the appellation and a pretty good QPR anywhere under 20 dollars. Glad I have 5 more.
I doubt this will improve much with age but should hold nicely for at least 3 or 4 years.
Drunk over 1 night; I had half of the bottle.

Pop n pour. Now 45 min after opening. Nice aromas of pomegranate and tart blackberries, some baking spices, herbs, bark and a bit of earth. Palate w tart red cherries and tart blackberries w a dash of pomegranate, herbs, a bit of baking spices, herbs, and a bit of earth. Excellent acids on a medium body. Moderate tannins on midpalate. Nice finish of pomegranate w dark cherries, herbs and minerals. Can easily be quaffed but there's more underneath that emerges with just a bit of time as the wine sits in my mouth. This is sneaky good and a nice value. 90+

Cherries, cherry stone, anice, light bitterness. Quite tight and chill. A nice drinking experience.
