  • Beautiful nose with fragrant notes of lemon, honey, peach, and a hint of petrol. Great acidity with medium sweetness on the palate, more peach, a hint of apricots, and lemon. Long finish. Wow, this was excellent! Such a beautiful, complex, and balanced wine!

  • Classic Ritsch with smoked herbs, Valencia orange and wet slate. This was a definitely a drinking Auslese with some sweetness and richness in the fruit. But as you would expect with Ludes, it was elegant, fresh, and light footed. An absolutely delicious and engaging balance between the ripeness of an Auslese, freshness and energy coming from the deft winemaking hand of Hermann Ludes, and the maturity after 19 years in the bottle.
I love the restraint of these wines. Everything is so delicately balanced. There is real beauty in how these wines are made and how they express the unique place that is Thörnicher Ritsch.

  • Combination of heaviness and freshness, if that makes sense. Flavors of maple, bacon sweetness, apricot syrup. Satisfying clean finish despite the sweetness.
