  • Big ripe Cab Franc, but not out of balance. Aromas of dried berries and berry jams, mostly a very dark fruit profile, nice airy spice component, dark chocolate too, hints of paprika and green tobacco fill out a vague varietal profile... I don't think this would be readily identifiable as Cab Franc in a blind setting. Full and warm on the palate, rich ripe dark fruit, powdery tannins, this might turn velvet in a year or two. I wouldn't save it long, as it is a little hot and loose. Should be a fab grilled steak wine over the next few years.
