  • 12.5% alcohol. Screw cap. Pale straw colour.
The nose is pleasantly floral (though gooseberries appear too) with reasonable intensity. Pretty fluid in the mouth showing clear signs of dilution; also, at times, I was wondering if I was not having a new world Sauvignon rather than a Chardonnay.
But look, as far as I am concerned the implicit contract was to deliver a bone dry somewhat steely wine, and it was fulfilled, kind of; reasonably serviceable at this price point (well, in fact one can get much better wines for less money in France, but that is another story).
Not a repeat purchase though. I remember getting this bottle in desperation when my stock of whites dwindled to next to nothing as a result of Covid.
Went fine with (and in) cheese fondue, but not a patch on the Quénard Roussette that I had the last time with that dish.
The rest of the bottle will be put to use in the kitchen.

  • Xmas drinks with equine friends/associates in Hampshire.
Fresh clean cox apple core with pebbly minerality and decent acidity giving a rounded dry finish. Well made co-operative wine if a little one dimensional. Suited the occasion perfectly with nibbles and canapés. Moreish.
    Designed for drinking young.
