  • Summer fruit in front of a thinner chalky core and a quick finish. Tasted blind next to Ovum's 2018 Memorista, which wasn't in any way a fair fight despite the home team wine being the less expensive... this would be a nice wine at around $10 but at close to $30 on the US West Coast it's a hard pass.

  • 9.5% abv, AP 05, $30 in MI. A blend of Piesporter crus Goldtröpfchen and Falkenberg. NOSE: a translucent, thin layer of yeast over russet apples. A trace of grass honey, bergamot, yuzu. Clean and clear. MOUTH: wtf, this Goldtröpfchen-typical floral signature must have been submerged in the front-nose; now it spans opposing berms of rigid, jagged, and gritty stone. Even at 60°F, an accelerated accretion of mineral keeps the event on the dry side. Sharp. Japanese apples. Fescue and mint jam. Blood orange. (fraise/piña) The hasty, drying acidity leaves a minty, whisper of icy heat on the finish. Exciting. A 2020 Mosel to cure thirst for filigree. 93+ points.

  • In my opinion, the least compelling of Julian's wines, especially in comparison to the comparably priced J.J. kabinett. Despite that, still a very enjoyable young wine in a drier style, but not one that I'll seek after year over year. Nice citric acidity and underripe peach on the palate with wisps of something deeper on the nose, but in the end, I'd rather pair food with one of his wines that has a bit of RS to tie everything neatly together. Drink young and cold.
