  • Very pale and translucent, almost looks like a Tavel rosé.

The nose is predominantly of earth first then high toned red fruit. Aromas of mushroom, dry cedar, leather, forest floor, kirsch, raspberry, cranberry, and flint. Chambolle musigny nose for sure.

On the palate the wine is quite light and delicate. Tannins are very gentle and acidity is medium. Finish lacks a bit in complexity but this is really a stellar, balanced, delicious wine. Excited to see what these vineyards can produce in 10+ years.

  • More Burgundian than the Tolpuddle, 91/93

When Tolpuddle feels a bit like a great Sonoma or SBC kind of sweet yet savory Pinot Noir, The Talinai looks a bit more spicy and earthy, in a Cote de Beaune style.

Nose of crimson cherry, sour cherry, leafy notes, mint, ...

Palate as well is a little more austere and restrained, but salivating and saltiness are premium features here.

Great salty wine with more tannins and a stricter style.

Will age well, even better if it was scew caped !

  • Translucent, ruby with an almost tawny tint. The tawny is no bad sign: the wine is in beautiful condition. The nose is aromatic, very attractive; the palate is light but very persistent, the length mostly supported by acidity. Flavours of raspberries and notes of savoury briar. A very sophisticated wine. It's impossible not to think of a delicate Burgundy, possibly Chambolle-Musigny. It seems to me this is a wine of great potential, though whether the potential lies in this vintage, with further ageing, or future vintages, I'm not sure. Whichever, it is certainly one worth watching. For the moment, it has a linearity rather than an expansiveness (at least within the first couple of hours of opening) which keeps it at the excellent level rather than exceptional. It was too delicate for beef stew, and I set it aside; better by itself, or with mild cheese or maybe poached chicken. 12.5%, cork.

  • Shorter decant (30-45 minutes) and paired with cheese board. Decanter quarterly wine club selection.

Very nice and complex pinot without being too weighty. Paired really well with the hornbacher cheese and not bad with the garlic goat cheese spread. Notes of raspberry, mushroom, a little ash/tobacco. Nothing overpowering, this wine is very balanced with a good medium mouthfeel.

  • 92/94

I stick to comments below, first I was reluctant to buy it as it is a lot more expensive than the "little" one... Talinay. But it's all worth the price now.

Had it in two times, first Coravin for pro tasting, then 3 weeks after open it and served. It might have helped a bit. Wine was stored laying after Coravin.

Nose is obvious of whole bunch, raspberry, spices, earth, and a bit of vegetal/spice... smoky and very little oak is smelled here. Intricate, nicely restraint.

Palate is vibrant and fresh, with a sharp floral direction, people in the comment section outlined saltiness or sapidity, it's there, and it takes the wine to another level of complexity and savoriness. Great wine, extremely enjoyable, and so well made.

    Hats off
