'Should Have Stopped at 3' Wine Night/Ian and Alex: This wine was the star of the night. ... Tart, wood smoke, spice, and even a hint of green vegetables. ... Doesn't jump out at you in any way but very smooth from start to finish. ... A lot going on for my still-inexperienced wine palate but just liked everything about the experience. Paired with some sharp cheese.

No decant. Creamy nose, nicely integrated oak, and dark fruit as with previous bottles, but this was more angular on the palate. Red and black fruit, not a ton of depth, but mature herbal nuances frame the fruit nicely. Very enjoyable.

Slightly better bottle than 1/30/12, a bit richer crimson color. Nose again brings mature, integrated oak elements with dark berries. Sweet red and black fruit palate, ending with plenty of tannin structure that keeps the finish firm and interesting.

Mature, integrated nose of toasted oak, sweet cream, dark berries, mocha/coffee grounds, and roasted herbs. Red to black currant palate, loamy mocha character, medium-weight with surprising depth of fruit. Quite nice. 91+
