Community Tasting Notes (6) Avg Score: 93.5 points

  • My last bottle of this one......94 only because I couldn't give it the time necessary for it to shine better than it did for dinner at HMC's.....2-4 hours doesn't do it justice. Red/dark red fruit, solid structure, a hint of iron....it's solid. Well integrated, well balanced. Nice qpr for this type of quality out of Napa.....just give it more air than I did.

  • Vin Fraiche x Somm Guild ATL event (Atlanta, GA): Tasted at Vin Fraiche x Somm Guild of ATL event @ Antica Posta in Buckhead. Tasted three wines together: the '19 and '21 vintages of the GK Napa Valley Cuvee and the '21 GK To Kalon Old Federal Block CabSav. I brought the '19 Cuvee and decanted it for 2 hours prior and the other two wines were PNP. I scored the '19 Cuvee a 92, the '21 Cuvee a 91 (only note I recorded on that one was "tannic") and the '21 To Kalon was a 93 (and the note I recorded on the To Kalon was just "so good!") All three were paired with Tuscan oven roasted rack of Lamb and I remember these being very good pairings. Brad - heavypourwine.com

  • About 18 months since my last bottle of this one. Pnp'd for family and enjoyed over 3-4 hours. Dark in the glass, great, classic Napa cab nose. The notes are the same as with the prior two bottles which I scored a 93 and 94. This wine remains rich and dense but with very nice integration. Smooth throughout, it continues to hum along nicely for a 'NV' cab. 93-94 remains a very nice score for this one and family loved it.

  • Excellent example of bringing multiple Vineyard sources together. Has deepened and improved a point or two over the past 6 months. Slow ox overnight helps it tremendously. Tons of rich, ripe blackberry fruit. A hint of iron and vanilla to go with the oak. A very nice entry level wine. Very good qpr here.

  • Few hour slow ox. Very deep dark purple magenta color. Blackberry, oaky vanilla, limestone, and subtle Mexican chocolate on the nose. Super smooth, dry palate. Very firm tannins on the medium long finish. 96-97% CS, with the balance PV.

This absolutely needs time to fill out. It is very likely to exceed this initial rating.
