Tasted this 14 year old French Burgundy side by side with a dozen people against the significantly more expensive 3 year old 2017 Maritana Dutton Ranch Vineyards from Russian River in California, that Suckling rated 95 points. The consensus was that while the California Chardonnay was very good, the French Chardonnay was significantly greater. Much more aromatic, concentrated, complex, layered, textured, mouth coating, and rich, with a near endless aftertaste.

From a vineyard on top of a massive limestone mountain in Burgundy. Rich, aromatic, concentrated, textured, layered, and magnificently structured by vivid and lively acidity. Still youthful and not at its peak yet. A great example of how Burgundy is rightly famous for making some of the most distinctive and greatest Chardonnays in the world. Well worth the $36 cost.

previous bottle left me meh but it was weird timing not chilled and not great event (mom's wake).
this one however, after nerdy recommendation, left us wowed.
concentration minerality acid depth; this brought it all. very good wine.

Burg Tasting Dinner at Jason and Julie's (Chez Jason and Julie, Orinda, California): Bright medium canary yellow color; light floral and ripe lemon nose; ripe lemon, floral palate, with malo, tasting like a good, non-oaky Cali Chard; medium finish
