  • Smells of rocks, bubble gum, fruit punch and red fruits. The palate gives grape, plum, cherry leaning towards maraschino or even candy and that aforementioned bubblegum. There is some mineral and earth to make it interesting and give it credibility, but definitely in the background of this fruity wine. Thin body, but I prefer to say light bodied, a little tannin (at times bitter) and enough acid to taste fresh. This wine could be considered hot, it does not taint the flavors but it does penetrate the nasal cavity at times. A good wine to unwind with on a Tuesday afternoon.

  • Pleasing enough. Doesn't hold up day 2 even vacuum packed.

  • While many of the right components are there, the proportions are off, resulting in something a bit lean and out of balance.

  • 2004 is the current vintage of this Trader Joe's 7 buck bargain. Excellent ruby red color. Nose is still restrained by youth, exhibiting a pleasant, well rounded aroma, suggesting merlot as the dominent grape. Medium bodied with enough tannin to point toward full body. Restrained, balanced fruit exposes the wines flavor profile which finishes clean but not long. Classic petite Bordeaux style, awarded silver medal in the Concours D'Aquitaine; well deserved. A wine too lean to compete in wine tastings but fantastic when paired with food, when it becomes whole.
