  I encountered my first Lagrein 1 year ago and I love it. Its a red wine grape which provides a very complete red wine. Red fruit, bue fruit, Black fruit, some minerals and herbs, integrated tannins, acidity which is not too prominent.

  This wine offers mostly dark fruit and floral flavors like blueberries and violets, along with subtle peppery spice. Acidity is pretty low (think ripe blueberries). Tannins are tea-like (but the tea has been steeping for quite a while). If you are a fan of Chilean malbec, darker fruit Beaujolais, or California syrah, this may be a good choice for you. I think this is appropriately priced at $50. I don’t think lagrein is a particularly complex grape, but it is distinctive in its violet-colored aromatic character.

  Served at an Italian themed dinner.
  Rich, spicy, complex, clearly Italian with the mineral finish. Very Syrah like palate.
