  • Fairly deep yellow, 14% ABV. Zalto universal glass. The nose seems to combine white fruits and a kind of dry savoury note that, for inexplicable reasons, makes me think of casks of chestnut wood. (I have no real idea what kind of aromas such casks might give.) There is, however, no volatile acidity in this bottle, as noted by other tasters. Wonderful texture, dry, fine aftertaste, ending on a pleasantly bitter note.

On the third day it showed a dangerously beautiful combination of slightly decaying reine claude plums with a savoury note of this imaginary chestnut wood.

  • I agree with previous taster that there is VA present, but it is not so obtrusive as to ruin the wine. Aromas of bruised apple, sure, but also lots of citrus and tropical stuff, some nuttiness and yeastiness, airy spice and white flowers too. Viscous and rich on the palate, fresh and fruity, remains oxidative through the finish, but there's great balance here. This is the best Le Piane Bianko I've tasted, will be great at the table, I'm thinking creamy pasta dishes.

  • Natural wine is good. Ethyl acetate is not. Wine smells like green apple jolly ranchers melted into a bottle of nail polish remover.

Palate aint bad, but it's just totally ruined by the awful nose.

A real disappointment from Piane, who makes some fabulous wines.
