  • Dark color, slightly faded, with a mahogany rim. On a pop and pour this was very maderized but it actually isn't any more. Two hours in its showing some nice soil.. perhaps some dried fossil beds or something, with dried fruits, charcoal, powdered earth... a little bit of a dusty library, but it's covered in cherries. Very elegant and integrated right now. Palate entry is absolutely gorgeous. The purity of integrated fruit and acid is wonderful. It's all there! It's complete, luscious... the acid is glorious. The fruit balance is spectacular: you have strawberries wrapped around soft pretty tannins and acidity with a sprinkling of a clove notion. This is one of those wines that you could miss as "old" but when you pay attention is quite beautiful. The palate and the finish really really sing. It tastes like a Bordeaux, but somehow better than that because it has the acidity of Tuscany with a laser precision throughout the whole thing, and gives the impression of looking at layers of soil. I actually think this wine is drinking at peak... I can't imagine it being better before or later than now. I bought this as an "old" wine 10 years ago, but I can't imagine it would have been as good then.

  • This bottle is more advanced than previous bottles. Solid bricking and showing age on the nose. Still quite lovely palate though a bit of black tea on the finish

  • Got a great bottle tonight. Brought this to our favorite local Italian joint. Ciro opened it and upon decanting it filled the bar area with an amazing perfume. Deep purple color with only the slightest hint of brick. Very youthful looking. The nose was classic aged cabernet. All secondary yet the crushed blackberry was penetrating. I'd take this to bed with me because i am sure it would hit the g-spot. Fully resoved tannin and a melange of fruits, leather, graphite and mineral. Such a pleasure with my diavole.

  • Great color with just a hint of bricking and clear miniscus. With a little air time the nose on this is pretty sexy. Clearly showing consistent with being a 14+ year old wine of good Italian pedigree. The nose is all secondary aromas. Almost old Barolo like. Tons of tar and anise. Red fruits and a hint of garrique. Medium bodied on the palate it still expresses good acidity and the tannins are well resolved though still a touch rough on the finish. Will this wine get any better? I do not think so but it is drinking really well even if a bit past it's prime. Drink Up.
