Informal notes from phone, tasted at winery as part of tour -
Nose - blackberry, plum, blueberry, cedar Palate - black and blue fruits, very full, underlying complexity but fruit is a little overpowering at the moment, still feels like could be something special there Other - fine grained tannins with a little grip, dark purple, long dark berry finish, think it has more potential than the 2015 tasted with it but needs several years to really shine, very impressed, personal score could increase with time

This is the best LM they have made. The wine is young, but everything is there. Firm, but well integrated tannins. Medium+ ruby, nose of blackberry, black pepper, graphite and towards the end vanilla from the oak. Silky smooth with fantastic balance. Fruit is fresh and vibrant, but restrained. This is not a jammy wine. There is depth and finesse. With air, the wine can be enjoyed now, but I think it will really start to shine in 5+. With time could push 95pts. Tasted twice at the release event at RdV.

Tasted at the RdV release party on 10/30. Wonderful nose with lots of cedar and spice. Flavor has lots of fruit but balanced with tannins. I could drink my allotment now but I'll hold off for a number of years...

Enjoyed at a tasting/tour at the Vineyard. Didn't take any detailed notes. Went down smoothly. Very typical notes of a Virginia Bordeaux blend. At $200+ a bottle, this has to be the most overpriced wine I've ever come across. As a huge supporter of Virginia wines, I hope that the wines at the RdV will improve over the next decade, but I'll never be buying any of them personally. 92-93
