Dark ruby in color with ever-so-slight clearing at the edges. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of mature, ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of cigar box notes of tobacco & cedar, earthy/dusty, some floral notes, leather, anise, mint, spices & a slight hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums, spices, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Long lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present but at 29 years of age it appears to be close to if not at its peak of development, so best enjoyed soon. Fill was at lower portion of neck well above the shoulder; cork was stained on lower 1/8 but intact upon opening.

Dry, muted red fruits, still medium to strong tannins, very acidic, throat burn long finish. As wine opens up, more fragrant: cherries, dried prunes, cigar box, cashews.

Nose of sage, tobacco, cassis, and blackberry, same on the palate, showing its age, medium body, very tasty, if you own it, I suggest you drink it, almost elegant, mouth filling and rich fruit, long finish.

Sweet fruit. More fruits that earth flavors. Smooth tannins. Not even a hint of undesirable old wine flavors. Not terribly complex, but very pleasant.
