The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like light toast, black currant (cassis), blueberry, fig and nutmeg. It tastes like black currant (cassis) and fig. The body is full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Notes from second day (half the bottle poured into a half bottle and corked on the first day). Red berries, cherry, ripe plum, herbs, earth. Medium+ acidity makes the fruit vibrant and fresh. I like Ingravolupaeronioushlinest's note about it being Amaro-like, because it does have that character, while maintaining its vibrant fruit character. Nice on its own, but this always seems to shine with food (this time with wild mushroom mac n cheese). Technical score 88-89, joie de vivre-"OMG this is so good with food" score 89-90. Edged up in price the last couple of vintages, but still a bargain given the quality and enjoyment level.

Tasty wine with lots of inky concentration. The spice profile reminds me of an Italian amaro. The fruit profile reminds me of the (different) dried fruit flavors of amarone and nero d’avola. Tannins are in a good place for drinking now. Overall, I find the wine interesting and well-made.
This varietal is distinctive enough that I might be able to identify it in blind tasting with practice.

Just a great wine. Upon opening and decanting 5 days ago, this guy had hard edges and much earth and mushroom, which lent such yummy notes but also indicative of it's price to quality. Here now 5 days later, wow, it softened and showed much excellent quality after the slow ox effect. Plums, earth, dense real notes of goodness. Worth the penny.
