Lay & Wheeler Summer tasting: The varietal character starts coming through in this cuvee more prominently than in the Pied de la Butte. Some capsicum, graphite along with rich cherry, raspberry, blackberry. Chewy and concentrated on the palate. Maybe a touch less vibrancy and lift than I'd really like, but a great effort.

Deep violet in the glass. Nose marked with dark berry fruit, plum, some herbaceousness. Rather structured palate with bright acidity and just a brush of tannins. Long, dry finish. Nice.

Loire trip 2022; 6/15/2022-6/19/2022 (Loire, France): [At Domaine Taille aux Loups] Deeper than the Pieds de la Butte; cassis, black currant, less fruity, more structure. Medium+ tannins, medium+ finish. 91-92

Seemed like an interesting, somewhat structured bottle of Bourgueil, but had an undeniable spritz that didn’t blow off.
