Lemon, lemongrass, and white pepper on the nose. Rounded, semi-rich in the mouth. A bit lively on the tongue. Clean but rich and somewhat tense finish, a bit short. Really good.

Notes of lemon, spice and pear on the palate dominate this chardonnay. Frankly, was expecting a bit more depth and concentration given how long this wine was aged but overall it is very good.

Small US new arrivals tasting hosted by a merchant. This spent 20 months in oak, 30% new. Nice depth and defined layers. Mostly ripe pear fruit with traces of lime and cooked banana. Very fine oak and moderately mineral. A dense and slightly creamy texture, but only just about manages to cough up the required acidity and finishes quite abruptly. Preferred the Hyde in direct comparison.

Worth the $80 price tag. Pure and full of life…a touch of nutmeg and butter.
