A private dinner (Wine Bar La Dilettante, Amsterdam, NL): Completely different style from the Breton Régnié which accompanied it, much deeper colour and much deeper pitch, blue and black fruit, silky-sweet texture, even a hint of chocolate, ripe but fresh, gentle tannins, good resonance and length. Serious stuff.

Lunch at 67 Pall Mall (67 Pall Mall, Singapore): Decently good, but with rather too noticeable a touch of bretty funk at first to be completely enjoyable. Thankfully, it did start to blow off after an hour or so. The nose was all gym socks and old cupboard at first, before opening up to show notes of earth and meat, spice and dark violets, all floating around a core of strawberries and black cherries. A rather masculine nose, but pleasant enough once you got past the funk. The palate was a touch better. Full, powerful and limpid, with a sinewy structure of fine tannins and decent acidity lining muscular flavours of black cherries, plums, and then that little higher tone hint of strawberries in there as well. Past the midpalate, more savoury notes of earth, spice and mineral came as the wine pulled away into a full, grippy finish. A particularly powerful Bojo, drinking decently enough young, but with its best years at least 5-7 years ahead of it still - assuming of course that the Brett does not overwhelm the prettier nuances on the wine.
