Blind tasting against Comtes lafon Meursault les Charmes 2010. Four years older, this wine is lively oaked, with a real substance that give him some personnality in from of the previous blockbuster94/100. excellent with an acceptable length. Fantastic Q/P , four times less than the Comtes one.

Blind tasting for my guests. The nose is mute. Mouth shy and thin. Grapefruit, emerging alcohol. My professional guest had difficulty to guess the grape type. Our appreciating is far under than other CT bloggers. Did I over refrigerate this wine or is it the signature of this supposed good vintage ?

Blind tasted and wrongly guessed a Loire Chenin due to the apples and floral character on the nose which was it has to be said is quite discrete. Luckily, it's better in the mouth with a nice sweet/acid interplay, white grapefruit and a medium length which finishes on a slightly creamy texture, no doubt from the new oak. This is high-toned but what held me back from scoring it higher was the alcohol which burns at the back of the mouth and signals an imbalance to my taste. I have only learnt this year that most top Burgundy whites in 2006 are overly alcoholic despite what the labels say, just an unfortunate characteristic of the vintage. Will it go away? Probably the acidity will fail before the alcohol numbs down, but I may be wrong.
