Last Meal before COVID 19 Isolation (Pokai Parera, Ekatahuna, New Zealand): Stunning wine. Bright golden hue, classy and totally involving nose, which emphasises wet slate, citrus, honey, and deep bottle age complexity. In the mouth, intense, long, complex, with a finish that finishes surprisingly dry. The nature of the acid is stunning - it is bright, yet gentle. It provides structure and clarity, but does not undermine the opulent, yet intently focused nature of the wine. A stunning bottle.

Opened overnight, but with a stopper. Deepish gold. Petrol, honey, and apples on the nose. Elegant palate. Very balanced. Very long with good concentration on the finish. Slightly better than the bottle drunk the previous night.

1989 revisited offline (Hambleton Hall, Rutland): This is a much deeper colour; much more the right sort of colour. It's showing the same sort of age on the nose, which is quite petrolly and with some botrytis. It's still fairly sweet on the palate, but there's lots of pure elegance here too. Nicely integrated. Delicious with roast guinea fowl.

AP Nr. 3 561 077 103 90, 8% The cork was seeping a bit. A rich gold appearance. Big, very minerally nose with lots of wax, pollen-honey and some raisins soaked in sauternes. Quite rich and sweet on the attack, but feeling nicely mature overall. Very stylish and elegant with enormous balance. There’s some lively acidity evident on the finish and after. Nice concentration too. Very Good Indeed+.

With Chinese at Mr Tangs. Another terrific bottle of this. I've never had a leaking bottle and I have had a number of these. Petrol and waves of sweet, sour peaches. Amazingly fresh and superbly balanced. No oxidation. I got all mine in Germany and hand carried them to the USA.
