  • Dried sage, dried bay leaf, over ripe red cherries, over ripe strawberries, gingerbread, cardamom and marzipan on the nose. The fruit almost smells jammy. Intensity of aromas is medium +. The palate adds over ripe red plums and fresh mint, keeps all the over ripe red fruit and finishes with the pastry/marzipan. Intensity of flavors is also medium +.

Medium body with medium + acid and medium + tannin. Flavors are tertiary enough age 6; but the strucutre says it could last another 1-2 years. No way it will last 5.

It's cool to see over ripe red fruit combined with all those dried herbs. I can't think of many other wines besides Alto Piemonte reds that can deliver that combination.

  • Le Pianelle Tasting with Cristiano Garella (Dig Wines): Fabulously aromatic nose, strawberry, red fruit, tons of spice, great complexity; palate is light bodied, high tannin, tons of red fruit; finish is medium length. Nicely drinking for the price, and enjoyable even now. 91
