CSD theme session. 3rd blind. Drank in Conterno Sensory. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of meat, broth, brambles, wild strawberries, dark red cherries. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium+ tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of meat, broth, brambles, wild ripe strawberries, dark red cherries, spice, emerging warm earth. Long finish. Very very good quality. A powerful CSD. Some thought this was a Clos de la Roche. Classy, has power, depth, and richness. Feels like it has many more years of development ahead too.

great mid palate density; good finishing acidity; i truly think this wine speaks of its appellation and of its vintage. frankly, i thought this bottle showed extremely well, and while drinking lovely, i would say a few more years it will be even better. can't say my experience was close to other tasters on this wine, as this was a terrific bottle in a good place.

Dull ruby with maturing outer quarter. This smells like Burgundy with a whiff of funkiness. Smoky brett and dark red fruit. Medium to full bodied, quite sappy. This starts out ripe and sweet but loses some of that fat with air. Chewy, spicy, tannic, reasonably earthy, but it could use more lift and acidity. Very good, Grand Cru texture but not quite Grand Cru complexity. It has the concentration to improve, but will it or is this as good as it gets?

Fully resolved and ready to drink. Black tea on the nose and a sappy, sweet palate that is a little soft (ie lacking a bit of acidity and structure).

Better than I remember. Nothing earth shattering, but the texture is grand cru and the aroma is close- but not quite.
