  • The initial nose is disappointing, and I agree with Jancis Robinson that there are notes of very ripe fruits. After an hour, the wine begins to open up; hints of pepper are noticeable on the nose, along with typical Northern Rhône Syrah notes of raspberries and black olives. In the mouth, more mineral and graphite notes become apparent, accompanied by a persistent acidity and a lengthening finish over time. A very enjoyable wine that deserves decanting, but unfortunately, it was consumed too young.
The Ferraton estate produces and continues to produce quality wines. However, I still believe that their Hermitage is more interesting than this Cornas.
