(Cornas Les Grands Muriers FERRATON) More Ferraton Dear Friends, Last week's Ferraton offer caused an outpouring of requests (and more ire than anything) - so many of you desired the wines but it just wasn't possible to make everyone happy. We did the only fair thing we could - we went in the order the requests were received and allocated each wine down to only a few bottles per person (until they were gone). Here we go again...you may as well throw your hat in the ring and see what happens. There is an opening in Cornas and Chapoutier knows it. With the retirement (or impending retirement) of the grand old guard in Cornas, there is room for a new kingpin. There are a few worthy contenders but this wine is going to rank right up there and it's already as hard to obtain as the Cote Rotie. From a vineyard source that is enviable, If he has his way, this wine will be as sought after as his trio of Ermitage wines - for $100-200/bottle less. Parker has already proclaimed the 2006 wines from Ferraton as the best ever and it's easy to see why. Not only are they quite hard to find (much harder to find than Chapoutier's namesake portfolio) but the quality is at the very highest level. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY directly from the source - 20 cases of the Cornas for the entire US (ok, there are 10 more cases of this than the Cote Rotie but 20 cases? For the whole country? With that in mind, please be patient with Niki here...) 2006 Cornas "Les Grands Muriers" EXTREMELY LIMITED ...we also have the two examples below - tough for me to pick between them, but the Courtil is easily mistaken for Hermitage proper - I've tasted many examples from the Hermitage hill in 2006 that are not this strong. Could be one of the buys of the vintage. The St. Joseph is like elegant Cote Rotie junior...enough said: 2006 St. Joseph Rouge "La Source" (I hope you allow yourself to look past the 88-89pts and actually read the verbiage - this wine will be the favorite of the three for many of you - expect a higher bottle score) 2006 Crozes-Hermitage "Le Grand Courtil" Three different versions of Syrah that all reflect the great vintage and their respective appellations. Another amazing and rare set of wines from Michel Chapoutier (at very fair prices for the surge in quality). Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone7611 Rhone7612 Rhone7613
